November 2, 2014 – Pastor Tim – “Things That Are Covered Do Not Heal Well”
Psalm 118:17, I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of the Lord.
It is horrifying to think of all the things we must go through from birth to death (all the challenges and trial we must endure). We must survive the peril of the streets, our public school system, the society in which we live, for some of us the first thing we survived was abortion.
Things were different when I was a kid (you don’t know how hard that was for me to say lol) but, our kids today must battle to survive, so much evil comes at them, not that there was no evil when I was a kid, but with all the ways information is so available evil doesn’t even try to hide.
Today evil is almost proud of being evil, and good is embarrassed.
They say that 3 out of 5 young girls in this country have been or will be sexually assaulted. Many young men have been or will be abused as a child. As a pastor, I must realize that some of the abused of this world will be in our congregation. And the issues of abuse must be addressed.
Often, many of us pastors are afraid to speak out about these victimized people. But, Things that are covered do not heal well.
Today, uncover your wounds in His presence and allow Him to gently heal the injuries.
One woman found healing in the hem of His garment.
Mark 5:25-34, Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’”
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
I’m not saying today that each of us must stand right now and confess our secret sins, but, we must touch the hem of His garment and tell the Him the whole truth.
Isaiah 40:28-31,
Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
