May 18, 2014 – Pastor Tim – “Producing Faith”
Hebrews 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is the secret to spiritual power.
Faith is based on truth rightly divided.
Faith comes by hearing.
Romans 10:17, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Hearing brings truth.
John 8:31-32, Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
- Truth rightly divided sets us free.
John 8:36, Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Faith is entering into rest.
- Faith results in rest.
Hebrews 4:3, For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
This verse quotes Psalm 95:11. Let’s look at the full context:
Psalm 95:7b-11, Today, if you will hear His voice:8 “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work. 10 For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’ 11 So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”
- Faith is a mighty conqueror. Jesus said
Mark 11:24, Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.
Faith produces miracles.
- Faith brings material miracles.
Mark 11:23, For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
- Faith brings spiritual miracles.
Mark 9:23-29, Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” 25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!” 26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.” 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. 28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” 29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
Henry Ford said, “If I can get gas and oil this motor will run.” If we have faith in Christ we will be conquerors!
