There are several scriptural references in which Christ’s attitude toward disease and the things that plague mankind is clearly shown. One of my favorites is in Luke chapter 13. Jesus loosed a woman from a spirit of infirmity on the Sabbath.
Luke 13:12, But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.”
She’d had the disease for eighteen years. The rulers of the synagogue criticized Jesus for healing the woman on the Sabbath. He answered in verse 16,
“So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, (a child of the promise) whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?”
Why shouldn’t the child of God’s promise be healed no matter what day it is… Jesus clearly stated that Satan was the cause of the infirmity that had bound her physical body.
Another example is found in Mark 2:5. A man with the palsy was brought to Jesus,
When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven you.”
When the scribes questioned the statement Jesus made, He answered them with this, in verse 9,
“Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’?”
In other words, Jesus was saying, “Which is easier? To forgive sins, which are the result of spiritual death in man’s spirit, or to heal the disease of his physical body, which is the result of the same spiritual death?” In either case, Jesus was and is dealing with the bondage of man to Satan. Sickness of any kind is bondage; it’s oppression. Weather it is spiritual, mental, or physical. Jesus Christ came to set man free.
In John 6:38 Jesus said, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.”
So, all of heaven is in agreement with the Father for the complete redemption of man. Jesus earthly ministry was a demonstration of God’s will for all that plagues man. Sin, sickness, poverty, it is all part of the curse the enemy is perpetrating on the children of God. Don’t believe the lie!
Matthew 8:16-17 says, “When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:“He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”
Mark 1:32-34, “At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. 33 And the whole city was gathered together at the door. 34 Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.”(He didn’t let them (demons) speak because they are liars.)
Jesus’ ministry was the will of God revealed to man. And He revealed that it was God’s will to break the power of enemy over man’s spirit, soul, and body. To set him free from pain and suffering caused by the enemy. Christ’s ministry proclaimed healing and blessing to the physical side of man’s nature as well as the spiritual side. Jesus healed all those who were oppressed by the devil. Therefore, it is God’s will that we be healed, whole, and well. Who needs Prayer!!!
