There is just one way of resisting the devil; and that is, by steadfastly believing and acting upon God’s Word.

Whenever we are affected by any other voice more than the voice of God, we have forsaken the Lord’s way for our deliverance.

The same serpent from the garden seeks to persuade us that we are powerless in this plan of God (to preach the Gospel, to cast out demons, to speak with new tongues, to be divinely protected, to lay hands on the sick and see them recover). Is it rational to believe the ‘father of lies’ in preference to the Son of God, as though Christ’s words were of less consequence than those of the devil! The truth of God or the lie of the devil?

When coming to God for salvation, healing, or anything else, it is essential for each one of us to decide whether we will allow the hiss of the serpent to rise above the voice of the Lord.

Every Christian, while going though whatever, has a thousand times more to be happy over than the most cheerful sinner in perfect health.

Real faith rejoices in the promise of God as if it saw the deliverance, and was enjoying it.

Faith does not wait for the walls to fall down…faith shouts them down! Make Satan Listen To Your Praises, and he will flee!!

April 29, 2012 – Pastor Tim – “We All Have Baggage” – Click to download

The first step toward appropriating the promises of God is the same as the first step toward salvation, healing, or any other blessing that God promises; that is, for the person in need to know what the Bible clearly teaches, that it is God’s will to bless them. Each individual person must be convinced by the Word of God that his or her promise or deliverance is the will of God; for it is impossible to have real faith for the promises of God as long as there is the slightest doubt as to its being God’s will.

It is impossible to boldly claim by faith a blessing or promise which we are not certain that God offers, because the power of God can be claimed only where the will of God is known.

Faith begins where the will of God is known. Faith must rest on the will of God alone, not on our desires or wishes.

God’s way of saving the soul, of healing the body, and of the doing everything else He wants to do, is to send His Word—His Promise—and then keep the promise wherever it produces faith.

The second step to be sure we are right with God is 1 John 1:9. As believers, admission of our sin does not alter our position before God, but it does enhance our peace with God. Our relationship won’t be altered, but the intimacy will. Because God has always loved us and always will.

Confession does not create a relationship with God, it simply nourishes it.

Faith is the union of our hearts and wills with God’s will and purpose; and where this unity is lacking results are impossible.

Faith always implies obedience.

Therefore, before seeking anything from God we should yield ourselves to the “first and great commandment.”

Step Three: We will now endeavor to make plain how to appropriate God’s promises. Getting things from God is like playing checkers, when, after one person moves, he has nothing to do until the other player moves. Each man moves in his own turn. So, when God has provided healing, or any other blessing, and sent us His Word, it is our move before He will move again. Our move is to expect what He promises when we pray, which will cause us to act our faith before we see the promise fulfilled.

God never moves out of His turn, but He always moves when it is His turn.

Fallen nature is governed by what it sees, by its senses, but faith is governed by the pure Word of God, and nothing less than expecting God to do what He promises.

Even when we do act our faith, symptoms do not always disappear instantly. After Hezekiah was healed, it was three days before he was strong enough to go up to the House of the Lord. (Hang in there—believe the promise.)

Faith therefore, is being so convinced of the absolute truth of the declarations of God which are recorded in the Bible that we act on them.

April 22, 2012 – Pastor Tim – “Is He Willing?” – Click to download

In the study of the Lord’s compassion, we must have, in my mind, a complete revelation of the Lord’s willingness to heal and set us free. During Jesus’ earthly ministry He was everywhere moved with compassion, and healed all “who where oppressed by the devil.” This same Jesus, is now seated at the right hand of God, “that He might be a merciful (compassionate) and faithful High Priest” for us.

To have compassion is to love tenderly, to pity, to show mercy, to be full of eager yearning.

God is not anything so much as He is Love. The most conspicuous statements in the Scriptures about our heavenly Father are the declarations concerning His love, His mercy, His compassion.

There is no note that can be sounded concerning God’s character that will so inspire faith as the expression of His love and compassion for us.

It is not what God can do, but what we know He yearns to do, that inspires faith.

Benevolence is the great attribute of God; therefore, if you want to please Him remove the obstacles out of the way of the exercise of His benevolence. God is infinitely Good, and God lives in a state of dedication to pour blessings on His creatures whenever they make it possible, which all of us can do (by the blood of Jesus).

Not only is God able, but He is also willing to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” It seems to me that God would rather we should doubt His ability than His willingness.

He is so “full of compassion” that he cannot be “a Respecter of persons” in the giving of His mercies. When we understand His compassion, mercy, grace, and love for us we will experience His power!

Our hands tell a story. They tell us when we’ve been in the water too long and when we’ve worked too hard. There are soft, smooth hands. Calloused hands. Red, work-worn hands. Hands with blisters and scarred knuckles from busting them on stuff. Jagged, broken nails. Nails bitten down to the quick. Long, polished, French-manicured nails. Our hands are scarred. Our hands speak volumes. Each wrinkle, scar and bump brings to mind a different narrative—a different story and moment in our lives.

How important are hands?

April 8, 2012 – Pastor Tim – Telling Hands – Click to download

We use our hands to gesture non-verbal expressions, such as hello, goodbye, you’re #1, to touch someone to get their attention, or to express kindness and love. We use our hands to be reverent to God in praise and worship services or to show appreciation by clapping. Hands build or destroy, compliment or insult, heal or even hurt. Hands are used in so many areas. Music, sports, writing, artistry, construction and so many more things that we cherish to do. We truly take our hands for granted.

Jesus’ hands still bear the scars. Even today, Jesus extends His nail-scarred hands to us. They assure us of His presence when we doubt. They lift us up when we stumble and fall. His hands reach out to comfort us when we mourn and to rejoice with us we celebrate. His beautiful, once-wounded hands tell the story of His love and care for us.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for the wounds in Your hands, now healed, and the beauty Your grace has brought into my life. Use my hands to serve others in Your name. Amen.

Where are you looking in life? Are you looking at the world? Are you looking at God? Did you know its impossible to look in two directions at the same time? Even for a split second we cannot look two ways at once. Pastor Tim Oates guides through scripture to help us focus in life and look to God for direction.

April 1, 2012 – Pastor Tim – Cannot Look Two Ways at Once – Click to download

If you want to receive life and healing, prosperity, deliverance from the Word of God, take time to find the words of the Scripture which promises Life.

The passage in Proverbs 4:20-22 shows us the method of obtaining results from the promises in God’s Word:

There must be the attentive ear. Incline your ear to my sayings. Definition: mindful, observant. If we are attentive, God’s Word will change and transform us.

There must be the steadfast look. Do not let them depart from your eyes. Definition: firmly fixed in place, immovable. Fauntlets were used on horses to keep them looking straight. The Pharisees would put scripture in their headdress (on the front of the forehead) so that the Word would be before their eyes at all times. Some would say that the mark of God is knowing the Word of God. The Pharisees had the Word of God before them but didn’t know the Word—or at least what it was trying to say. There is a difference between having the family Bible open on the entry way table of your home and knowing what is in the Bible.

3. There must be the enshrining heart. Keep them in the midst of your heart. Definition: to preserve or cherish as sacred.

Instead of having our eyes on our symptoms or circumstances and being occupied with them, let not God’s Words “depart from your eyes“.

We must look at God’s Word continually (magnify), and like those that have gone before us, we must be strong in faith by looking at the promises of God and at nothing else.

When we attend to God’s Word by not letting them depart from before our eyes and by keeping them in the midst of our hearts, the seed is in “good ground,” the kind of ground in which, Jesus says in Matthew 13:23.

If a field in which the farmer has planted seed could talk to us, it would say, “The seed works mightily in me.”

We who trust Christ have no need to be ashamed of our confidence. Time and eternity will both justify our reliance.

Don’t doubt your faith doubt your doubt for they are unreliable.

Oh, what a means of blessing is the look of faith to Christ! There is Life, light, liberty, love, joy, guidance, wisdom, understanding, perfect health—in fact everything, in a steadfast look at the Crucified One. No one ever looks in vain to the Great Physician.

Our symptoms may point us to death, but God’s Word points us to life, and we cannot look in these opposite directions at the same time.

Have you had a hard time having faith? Pastor Tim’s message this week hits on this topic of Faith. We need God. Faith is essentially believe God will do what he says he will do. Take a moment today and listen to this weeks sermon.

March 25, 2012 – Pastor Tim – To Those Needing… – Click to download

Appropriating faith cannot go beyond one’s knowledge of the revealed will of God.

Before anyone can have a steadfast faith for wisdom, the healing of the body, soul, or mind—or for that matter any promise of God—they must be rid of all uncertainty concerning God’s will in the matter.

God’s promises are each a revelation of what God is eager to do for us. Until we know what God’s will is, there is nothing to base our faith on.

It is important that the mind of those seeking “a promise” be “renewed” so as to be brought into harmony with the mind of God as revealed in the Bible.

It is not God’s will that there shall be a harvest without the planting of the seed.

Freedom from all of our needs comes from knowing the truth.

For each sick person, oppressed person, or person held captive to know that it is God’s will to heal them, and set the captive free, is the “seed” which must be planted in their mind and heart. And it is not planted until it is known and received and trusted.

The “seed” must remain planted and be kept watered before it can produce its harvest.

It is the Word of God planted and watered and steadfastly trusted, which heals both soul and body.

Christ’s bearing of our sins and everything else is surely a valid reason for trusting Him now for deliverance from whatever we need.

God’s promises work their wonders while we see and act on eternal realities (on His promised, His faithfulness, etc) and refuse to be affected by temporal things to the contrary.

Pastor Tim dives into a topic many churches don’t like to touch on. Sin. He teaches on two types, habitual and generational sin. Instead of being a teaching on condemnation when many speak about sin, Pastor Tim guides how to break free from the hold sin can have on us. Regardless if its something we do ourselves or something that has been passed on through our predecessors. Listen today and be encouraged and challenged for God.

March 18, 2012 – Pastor Tim – Breaking Free – Click to download

Habitual Sin

Many people have been caught in the trap of sin-confess-sin-confess. They can’t seem to break the cycle of sin
from their lives.

Seek out a brother or a sister, strong in the Lord, who will hold you up in prayer and to whom you can be
accountable.

Whether we need the help of others or just the accountability of God, it may help to pray this prayer.

Dear heavenly Father, You have told us to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. Romans 13:14, But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. I acknowledge that I have given in to fleshly lusts which wage war against my soul. 1 Peter 2:11, Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, I thank You that in Christ my sins are forgiven, but I have transgressed Your holy law and given the enemy an opportunity to wage war in my members. Ephesians 4:27, nor give place to the devil. James 4:1, Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 1 Peter 5:8, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. I come before Your presence to acknowledge these sins and to seek Your cleansing, 1 John 1:9, If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. that I may be freed from the bondage of sin.
Galatians 5:1, Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. I now ask you to reveal to my mind the ways that I have transgressed Your moral law. I now confess these sins to You and claim through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ my forgiveness and cleansing. I cancel all ground that evil spirits have grained through my willful involvement in sin. I ask this in the wonderful -name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Generational Sin

To be free from generational sin we must renounce the sins of our ancestors and any curses which may have been placed
on us.

What is your family heritage? I tell you this, the devil doesn’t want to give up his territory and will try to interrupt us when we take authority over them.

Many of us come from different backgrounds; cultic religions or just a legalistic background, satanic cults or even drunken or abusive parents and even adopted children can be subject to generational demonic strongholds. But all of us can become a new creation in Christ.
If we are the victim of any abuse, ritual abuse or otherwise, we may need to seek the help of a skillful counselor who understands demonic strongholds.

In order to help us walk free from our past influences, we can pray the following prayer:

Dear heavenly Father, I come to You as Your child, purchased by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. I
here and now reject and disown all the sins of my ancestors. As one who has been delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of God’s dear Son, I cancel out all demonic working that has been passed on to me from my ancestors. As one who has been crucified and raised with Christ and who sits with Him in heavenly places, I
reject any and every way in which Satan may claim ownership of me. I declare myself to be eternally and completely signed over and committed to the Lord Jesus Christ. I now command every familiar spirit and every enemy of the Lord Jesus Christ that is in or around me to flee my presence and never return. I now ask You, heavenly Father, to fill me
with Your Holy Spirit. I submit my body as an instrument of righteousness, a living sacrifice, that I may glorify You in my body. All this I do in the name and authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

One victory does not constitute winning the war. But many victories are the mark of a successful warrior. Freedom must be maintained. We will stay free as long as we remain in right relationship with God. Be encouraged, we know how to get right with God again.

Stand firm and resist him. This is a winnable war! In fact, our victory is secure in Christ. If we find refuge in Him.

Continuing this week is this second part of challenging message, titled “Submission and Pride” which Pastor Tim concludes on the issue of Pride.

March 11, 2012 – Pastor Tim – Submission & Pride (Part 2) – Click to download

Pride

Pride says, “I can do it alone. I can get myself out of this mess without God’s help.” Oh, no you can’t! We absolutely need God, and we desperately need each other.

Pride is what caused Lucifer to be thrown out of heaven.

In so doing I have given ground to the enemy in my life. I have believed that I could be successful and live victoriously by my own strength and resources. I now confess that I have sinned against You by placing my will before Yours and by centering my life around self instead of You. I now renounce the self life and by doing so cancel all the ground that has been gained in my members by the enemies of the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that You will guide me so that I will do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but that with humility of mind I will regard others as more important than myself. Philippians 2:3, Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Enable me through love to serve others and in honor prefer others. Romans 12:10, Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;
I ask this in the name of Christ Jesus my Lord. Amen
