Intro video: Social Experiment Shows Unique Connection Between Mother And Child

Trivia:

  1. Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia who started Mother’s Day celebrations also filed a lawsuit in an effort to stop the over- commercialization of Mother’s Day. She lost her fight. Anna had hoped for a day of reflection and quiet prayer by families, thanking God for all that mothers had done.
  2. Jayne Bleackley is the mother who holds the record for the shortest interval between two children born in separate confinements. She gave birth to Joseph Robert on September 3, 1999, and Annie Jessica Joyce on March 30, 2000. The babies were born 208 days apart.

A Joke:

A small boy is sent to bed by his mother…

[Five minutes later]

“Mom…”

“What?”

“I’m thirsty. Can you bring me a glass of water?”

“No. You had your chance. Lights out.”

[Five minutes later]

“Mom…”

“WHAT?”

“I’m THIRSTY…Can I have a glass of water??”

“I told you NO! If you ask again I’ll have to spank you!!”

[Five minutes later]

“Mommm…”

“WHAT??!!”

“When you come in to spank me, can you bring me a glass of water?”

    • Working mothers are guinea pigs in a scientific experiment to show that sleep is not necessary to human life.
  • Parents often talk about the younger generations as if they didn’t have anything to do with it.

Things Mom Would Never Say

  • “Well, if Jason’s mamma says it’s OK, that’s good enough for me.”
  • “The curfew is just a general time to shoot for. It’s not like I’m running a prison around here.”
  • “I don’t have a tissue with me … just use your sleeve”

“Don’t bother wearing a jacket – the wind-chill is bound to improve”

It’s Time to go to School

One early morning, a lady went in to wake up her son. “Wake up, son. It’s time to go to school!”

Son: “But why Mom? I don’t want to go.”

Mom: “Give me two reasons why you don’t want to go.”

Son: “Well, the kids hate me for one, and the teachers hate me, too!”

Mom: “Oh, that’s no reason to not to go to school. Come on now and get ready.”

Son: “Give me two reasons why I should go to school.”

Mom: “Well, for one, you’re 52 years old. And for another, you’re the Principal!”

Poem: Mother’s Love – Helen Steiner Rice

A Mother’s love is something that no one can explain,

It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain,

It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may

For nothing can destroy it or take that love away…

It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking,

And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking…

It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns,

And it grows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems…

It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation,

And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation…

A many splendored miracle man cannot understand

And another wondrous evidence of God’s tender guiding hand.

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-13

And now I will show you the most excellent way.

1Cor. 13:1           If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.  2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  3 If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

1Cor. 13:4           Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1Cor. 13:8           Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,  10 but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.  11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.  12 Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

1Cor. 13:13         And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Moms love their kids!

If we look at this scripture we can see that it is really a description of Jesus. There is no one who loves us more and is willing to give more.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

One of the greatest qualities that God has given to women is their heart to love their kids.

As Christ lays down his life for us so a mother gives up her life for her kids.
